Welcome to My Blog!

The students above are my Kindergarteners. As you can see they love visiting the lab and using the computers each week. I see students from grade Pre-k to grade 8. We use desktops in the lab but the students to have access to laptops in the classroom for research purposes.

Students are taught certain computer literacy skills in a computer lab that make integrating technology in the classroom easier. Teachers know that students have a period or two each week for learning how to edit video, format text, manage files or create websites. This allows for more instructional time in the classroom. It also allows them to focus on the content and process rather than specific computer skills.

Computer labs have taken a hit lately. Some teachers and school districts do not see a need for them anymore. People are stating that laptops and mobile devices in classrooms as well as cloud storage is the way to go. I feel that it is good to offer students the best of both worlds. Students will develop better 21st century skills if given more options to utilize a variety of technology each school day.

Some websites I use (the list goes on and on so I will just mention a few).
